#20 - Dance for Universal Peace Retreat - Experience Memoir

Image
A few days back, I saw a post from the DUP saying about a Caravan team of a few people travelling to different locations for a week & performing dances for universal peace. I was very much curious to join this but the price was so huge. Hypothetically, somehow if I can gather the money, I still can't take this many leaves from work to attend this. But then I saw another post a week back saying a 1 and half day DUP session with stay at the outskirts of Bengaluru. I thought, “Yes! Maybe I could afford this with both money & time. What a way to end & start a year it would be. Let’s book this”. On the night of 30th December I went to watch a Tamil movie called “Sirai” which was so good & I came late & slept late. I got a very little sleep than usual & I woke late, got ready very quickly & started at around 09:15 AM & reached the venue by 10:30AM. This is the first time I am going through this road & to my surprise somewhere near “Art of Living” I saw...

#19 - Singing & Dancing

Singing & Dancing From my childhood, I always wanted to sing & dance. I tried to participate in a singing & dancing competition at a very early stage & gave up. But somewhere deep down I want to sing out loud & dance like no one is watching. So, sometimes I rarely sing out loud & dance whenever I am alone & when the doors are locked. One day in my office, there was a DJ dance night happening & in that I badly wanted to dance, but was very hesitant, anxious & very much afraid about what others would think of me & they would judge me. The sound system was so good & I could feel the beats inside me. Slowly each person came out of their shyness & within half an hour everyone was dancing. Initially the DJ was playing hindi songs & english songs, rarely tamil songs & towards the end the last half an hour, DJ played many Tamil songs & I danced not caring of what others think & I felt really happy. That night I really felt both my...

#18 - A Retreat Experience

I saw this post named “Lost Lover Retreat” & in the poster it said “What mind forgets, body remembers", also my birthday falls on one of these 3 days on the retreat. So, I didn't give it a second thought, I just booked. I started on Thursday night from Bengaluru to Coimbatore, got freshened up in the morning at around 7, had breakfast then boarded the bus to Anaikkatti at around 8:30. It’s a private bus & the conductor was young wearing a muffler, playing specific songs on his phone connected to the bus’s speaker system. The first song is “Ukkadathu pappadame” which is from the movie "Arul" and has many location names like Avinashi, Marudhamalai, Ukkadam, Peelamedu, Siruvaani, Pollachi. And while returning to the bus stand too, this song was played in other buses too. I don't know if this is coincidence or purposefully playing these songs, as these lyrics were advising girls not to love any guys. Then many songs were played like “Pombalainga kaathala than ...

#17 - Listeners' Circle Experience

Image
Saw an insta post titled “H.O.P.E” a listeners' circle event. The expansion of it is "Healing, Optimism, Positivity & Empathy". These words are enough for me to book for this event & I went sharply at 06:30 PM. This event took place at “Treehouse” which has a very good vibe & ambience. The climate was also so good as it was slightly drizzling too. Only 3 people were there & the organiser enquired about how I got to know this & then she told us that we can wait for another 15 minutes as few other people were coming. I was a little bit anxious & was waiting there. As time went on roughly around 10 people had gathered there. The organiser told a few rules about the event that this was a non judgemental space & we have to respect people’s privacy & we can take away only the good stories from the people. And not to reveal any of the personal stories to others outside. So, I try to respect those & stick with that. This blog will be more of my...

#16 - Ilaiyaraja Concert - A Nostalgic, memorable Experience

It was always my dream to experience a live “Ilaiyaraaja Concert” but I wasn't having that much money & also time wasn't feasible many times. So, it was on my bucket list for a very long time. Finally it was striked out from my bucket list on May 1. I feel really, really happy & grateful for myself & Ilaiyaraaja. The Love for Raja's Music : I have grown up listening to Ilaiyaraaja’s songs. But to be honest I haven't explored a lot of his songs because there are more than 5000 songs from over a 1000 movies. I think I have heard around 500 songs of him on the whole in repeated mode at various times. My most favourite songs of his are “Thendral Vandhu theendum pothu”, “Raasathi unna”, “Sundari Kannal”, “Kalyaana maalai”, and the list goes on. Also, this one song from “Thiruvaasagam” - “Putril Vaazh” made me cry the first time I heard it. It did something to me spiritually. Similarly, “Pitchai Paathiram” also does the same thing inside me. I don't know wheth...

#15 - The Book Club Experience - A Memoir

Image
Whenever I tell my friends & colleagues about some event that I have been to or that is about to happen, that might be useful to them. Their immediate question would be how do you get to know about these events & their occurences. And my answer is mostly “INSTAGRAM”. Yes. Instagram is my new tool for finding experiences. Yeah, it's really true. This algorithm works in a way that it pushes ads & stuff I really like. For most people & people outside Bengaluru, Weekends are for Partying & it is true to some extent. But there is the other side of Bengaluru, that is, there are a heaven a lot of discussions, meetups & events happening exclusively for Arts, Literature, Travel, Mental Health & Stuffs(Collectively for the Knowledge aspect or workouts for Brain). And many of these events are absolutely free of cost, if you have time & interest, by just getting out of the bed & putting in that little effort you will be surprised & introduced to a lot of...

#14 - Birth of "THE GIFT" 🎁

Image
During my college days, whenever we go to our friends' sister or brother's marriage function. We all gather money on the day of the marriage & go to the nearest gift shop & buy a photo frame, wall clock, hot pack, cup & saucer set, or some other unnecessary gifts. But I felt gifts are to be a useful one for whom we are giving.  And after college days, I entered into this reading phase of my life & found that reading books are making me more human. Even though I have read a very few books, I still feel reading good books can change people's perspectives, unlearn biases, become more empathetic. So, I try to propagate the idea of reading to people, literally forcing them to read books. I even have written a content & made a video citing the scientific benefits of reading books which has got more than 5 lakh views & many good comments too. Here is the link to it., The Scientific Benefits of Reading Books So, after that in most of my videos I try to recom...
